Concept

In particular, my art works do not contain any difficult theory.
I have been creating as though I were drawing like a child.
It is like listening to my favorite music, choosing clothes which I will wear that day, or making an entry in a diary every day.
That’s why I just depict my favorite objects as I like.

Airy-Fairy Mind

Lightly bright images, extra simplified forms, colorful flat paintings. Kawano’s straight expression of women’s daily life makes people relax. Through her works, you can feel the naturalness of her drawing and her likeness of drawing in her life.

There are many styles of “like”, and Kawano’s “like” presumes purity of a child’s drawing. Drawing as she sees and feels. There are many girls on the paper when she noticed.
Actually, there are many sketches of women (I want to say “girls”) in Kawano’s sketchbooks and memos. It is rare to draw on canvas as it is, and many become art works through her careful drawings. There is a definite mind to finish as an art work but not only “like”. Her painting is a child’s painting with adulthood mind.

Moreover, you can read her mind from the canvas. It is the black usage. While light colors take over the most surface such as the figure’s fashion and the background, almost dowdy black is used always in carefully painted hair tips and slightly larger black eyes.
It is not incidental painting, but confidential expression by knowing that it might destroy the balance and might be seen as an inexpert. You can feel Kawano’s strength from the blackness by facing her pure mind to the canvas eagerly.

Kawano’s confidential mind in the lightly image makes her works attractive.
