Yu HARA SOLO EXHIBITION 2007.7.19(thu)-8.8(wed) OPENING PARTY 7.19(thu) 18:30-20:30

Characterizing the viewpoint of "large" comes Yu Hara's most important work, the "Flying Classroom." Her motif takes everyday objects and sprinkles them onto the canvas. The seemingly random variety of things accumulates under her unique style, and they appear to float on the canvas. All of the elements are treated equally even while overlapping each other, yet there is reasonable distance, making the overall composition a stable world.

There's still another important series from Hara, in which she takes the canvas cloth and transforms it into locks of hair, forming her "Face" series. Its concept encompasses the idea of platonic love, which Hara named "sister love," where innocent love eternally remains true love. She has thoroughly demonstrated the recent explosion of Akihabara style humor with this series.

This time, the title of Yu Hara's show is "&." She has selected pairs of work from both the "Flying Classroom" and the "Face" series and put them on display. With this layout, she has been able to gain delicate balance.

To us the title "&" has a nice ring to it, so let's see if the untying of cloth can bring a like image.
